I know there is healing in nature – and every time I exposed children to nature, I could see the change. But something was missing. Not one of the volunteers was equipped to help the children emotionally – and definitely not in the short time we had them. We couldn’t do anything about their circumstances, and it was hard to except that.
I stopped believing in coincidence a long time ago – so when I was invited by one of our volunteers to attend ‘The Liberating Kids’ Shining Potential Workshop’, I grabbed the opportunity. The whole puzzle came together. The Journey process gives the children tools to handle their current situations and I benefited tremendously attending all their courses.
It was therefore an honour when they sponsored 5 of the SOAPkidz volunteers to attend two of their workshops. The changes in the volunteers after attending the workshop were remarkable.
The excitement attending the course were clearly visible and instead of the 5 volunteers who took the Gautrain, Castor John, my friend from Tanzania also turned up. Because of a lack of space, I had to tell him that he couldn’t join us.
