Renowned for my ability to get lost, I joined the rest of the Mountain Club volunteers at the CSIR at 07h30. Castor, my friend from Tanzania was visiting and I wanted to show him what SOAPkidz is all about. The last thing I wanted was to show him how I got lost, so we got a lift with one of the Magaliesberg Mountain club members.
Once at the Sparkling Waters Hotel, it was a pleasant surprise to see how many people turned up to give back to nature whilst having loads of fun.
Otti and Michael told us what to look for and pretty soon, everyone was either pulling out the Senna, or chopping down invasive trees. The tree-popper turned out to be a very handy tool and everyone had fun using it. Castor impressed everyone with newly acquired tree felling skill.
It was not just work. Everyone was fascinated when Michael pointed out an insect and trying to cross the stream without getting wet was impossible, so most of us ended up enjoying a swim after we slipped in the stream.
After lunch, it was time to head back. Once again , I was privileged to give back to nature while clearing my head, meeting new people and having lots of fun.
Please come and join us for this fun filled day where we give back to nature whilst having loads of fun.
